Build Your Own Agent Team
I keep up with AI and the other fast-moving stories I write about here with a small team of Claude agents: a chief of staff I check in with every morning, plus specialists that scan the news, dig into research, and prep drafts. This kit is the generic version of that setup, first written for a friend and adapted here for anyone running a business on their own.
The part that makes it work is the escalation barrier: a written line in every agent’s instructions between what it may do alone and what it must bring to you. The agents draft, research, track, and organize. Anything that changes what you think, owe, or own comes back to you as a question. Every file below has that rule built in.
Six markdown files, free to download and adapt. No special software needed; the guide shows how to run everything in regular Claude chat.

Build Your Own Agent Team Guide
The whole approach: what an agent actually is, the coordinator-plus-specialists structure, escalation barriers, and how to build it all with free-plan Claude Projects.
Agent Instructions Template (fill in the blank)
Copy once per agent and fill in the brackets. The escalation section is required, not optional.
Finished examples
Sample 1: Sterling, Chief of Staff (coordinator)
The template filled in for the coordinator role of a solo consulting practice.
Sample 2: Marlowe, Pipeline & BD (specialist)
The template filled in for a specialist that finds and helps win the next piece of work.
Level 2: skill format
Sterling as a skill
The same coordinator packaged as a Claude skill you summon with a slash command. The guide explains when to graduate to this.
Marlowe as a skill
The pipeline specialist in skill format.
How to start
Read the guide, then build the coordinator today: fill in the template, paste it into a Claude Project’s custom instructions, and ask it for your first daily brief. Add one specialist when you feel the gap, not before. If you want to see what a setup like this produces day to day, that’s what the rest of this site is.
